10 Feb 2022 --- Mondi is equipping Henkel with a “keep-at-home” refillable pump dispenser for its hand dishwashing products, which can be used to refill plastic bottles from flexible pouches also produced by the packaging giant. This innovation supports Henkel’s pledge to make 100% of its packaging recyclable or reusable and cut its fossil-based virgin plastic use by 50% by 2025. Muriel Joncheray, global key account manager consumer flexibles at Mondi, tells PackagingInsights: “Henkel has launched a completely new packaging concept for its brand Pril. The hand dishwashing liquid is now available in a 100% recycled PET (rPET) pump dispenser bottle which can be reused many times using refills packaged in Mondi’s recyclable mono-polyethylene (PE) refill pouch. The pouches can be refilled at home.” “The recyclable refill pouch reduces plastic by 70% every time it replaces rigid plastic bottles, meaning the rigid plastic bottle only needs to be bought once and can then be refilled many times with the pouch.”Mondi says the pouch completely empties due to its shaped design, leaving no residue. It is soft touch with a sturdy base so it can easily stand in-store, offering retailers “attractive” and “eye-catching” on-shelf appeal while also communicating brand information, including the environmental sustainability benefits. Furthermore, Mondi’s leak-proof pouch is certified according to ISTA 6, providing highly durable packaging for both in-store and online shopping.
