Open House To Showcase Ishida's Snacks Capabilities
New machine models and software enhancements, specifically designed for snack packing applications, will be unveiled by Ishida Europe at a series of Open House events, taking place at the company’s UK manufacturing headquarters in Woodgate, Birmingham, from 17th – 27th November.
Among the highlights will be the latest product development from Ishida – a fully automated case packing solution, incorporating integrated seal tester and checkweigher. The twin delta-robot case packer includes an integrated case erector and full product cookbook functionality allowing seamless switching between case patterns and pack sizes. Significantly, the compact footprint allows two systems to be installed side-by-side and aligned with the output of an Ishida twin weigher/bagmaker combination. Positioned on 850mm centres, the case packer can achieve a packing capability of up to 150bpm per side.
Also on display will be special insertion tools that can be incorporated into Ishida weighing and bagging systems for special promotions. The Banner Device enables a promotional message to be applied to a pack, meaning existing packaging can be used for the duration of a promotion without the need for new artwork to be prepared. The Token Inserter and Pot Inserter are able to place free gifts and an accompanying dip or sauce directly into the bag.
Ishida’s advanced weigher and bagmaker combinations will include an 18-head multihead weigher from its RV series operating in twin mode, filling potato crisps into two Ishida Atlas bagmakers. It will be performing at up to 120 packs per minute per side, whilst maintaining high system efficiency and less than 0.1g giveaway. A 16-head Sticks weigher will be installed above an Atlas bagmaker featuring ultrasonic technology, which produces high quality seals while delivering the opportunity of significant reduction in film usage. Also on display will be Ishida’s entry-level First Range weigher/bagmaker combination which delivers a fast payback at a reduced investment level. Specialist solutions include a bespoke line for flavoured sticks, and Ishida’s recently launched high speed but gentle handling salt-stick packing system.
Ishida will also demonstrate its newly-launched Ishida Expert software, which offers computer based training on Ishida products. Ishida Expert is a blended, interactive learning approach for individual operators and technicians to be received remotely on a customer’s site. This self-paced learning product provides best-in-class training to help ensure Ishida equipment is set up, operated and maintained to optimum performance levels at all times, thus helping to optimise overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) and return on investment.
Other advanced software support for snacks installations include the company’s pioneering iTPS, which supports linked operation of bagmakers with mulithead weighers, throat metal detectors, printers, seal testers and checkweighers to maximise line efficiency; and its Ishida Data Capture System (IDCS II), a powerful software that captures the data from every pack that passes across an Ishida checkweigher to monitor packing line performance and help improve OEE.
