07 Sep 2023 --- SIG and AnaBio Technologies are partnering to launch what they say is the first long-life probiotic yogurt packaged in aseptic cartons. The collaboration says this is a “major breakthrough” as it allows for shelf-stable probiotics to be kept for prolonged storage periods without refrigeration.Until now, it has not been possible to incorporate probiotics into aseptic beverage packaging due to their inability to survive common heat treatments used in processing. Probiotics can also be unstable during storage, typically restricting their use to refrigerated beverages with a short shelf life.
