Consumer education around the suitable end of life destinations for packaging is critical and international clarification of definitions such as “biodegradable,” “recyclable,” and “compostable,” could be incredibly useful, according to industry experts. To really tackle the issue at its root, policy and industry must collaborate, as well as work to educate both industry and consumers on the matter.
